We met a number of people along the trail who highly suggested we take the Cloud's Rest route towards our final destination instead of the lower route around Cloud's Rest. We had just risen climbed over 1000' in just a couple miles and most of our group decided the additional 1000' of elevation gain and 2500' of elevation loss on the other side, wasn't worth it. But Derek and I couldn't help ourselves. So we took the Cloud's Rest route anyway with our radios to keep contact with the rest of the group. The Views were AMAZING!
