It was a long 10 hour day. By the time we were within a quarter mile of the tent, the snow got soft and we began to sink. We were lucky to be so close. Accross Avalanch Gulch we saw two people descending a chute from Casaval Ridge. They were postholing above their waists. It took them just under an hour to travel 100 yards.
